    • He died in 1802 in the midland dist. of Ontario. He was a yoeman, (a
      farmer who cultivates his own land).He was buried in Cataraqui, Ontario.
      He emigrated to American and according to family tradition was a resident
      of Schenectady New York during the War of independence. He fled as a
      Loyalist to Kingston area of Ontario. According to the UEL list he was
      the first settler called Loyalist, in the Kingston area. He also was one
      of the first permanent settlers to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This
      information can be obtain from the Powley File in the UEL Assoc. of
      Canada Library, Ontario, Canada.

      According to the Rev. Malcolm Powley unpublished book on the Powley's ,
      the Powley's are descended from the Palaeologus or Pauleovitch, the
      Last Emperor of the Byzatine Empire. [5]
