  Married: Their Marriage License states they were married by Rev. Walter Firthat at the M. E. Church, in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 10, 1927. Witnesses were Waive Overhiser and Anne M. Swartz. The following is from a Deckerville, Michigan newspaper: A very pretty wedding was solemnized August 10, at the home of Mrs. Ida Powley, Port Huron when her youngest daughter Betty Fern became the bride of John L. Kutchen of Detroit. The bridal party took their places to the music played by Miss Theo May Turnbull, niece of the bride. The attendants of the bridal couple were the Misses Waive Overhiser, Anne M. Swartz, and Mr. James Donaldson of Detroit. The bride was attired in white canton crepe and a veil of tulle caught with a cornet of orange blossoms. The bridal bouquet of white roses and baby breath was carried by Bessie Lyla Turnbull, niece of the bride. The bridesmaids wore peach and powder blue georgette respectively and carried pink roses. The groom wore the conventional navy blue. The Rev. Walter Firth of Chelsea M. E. Church officiated. After a buffet luncheon Mr. and Mrs. Kutchen left for a two weeks motor trip through the East, stopping at Philadelphia and Atlantic City. The bride is a former Deckerville girl having graduated from high school here. She is also a graduate of the Ypsilanti State Normal College. The past two years she has made many friends in Sturgis, Michigan where she has been teaching in the commercial department. The groom is a successful business man of Detroit, in which city they will make their future home.
